Top picks
1. Toronto Blue Jays ML β LAA Angels @ TOR Blue Jays
- Game: Los Angeles Angels @ Toronto Blue Jays, 7:07 PM ET
- Bet Type: Moneyline
- Line: Blue Jays ML -162 (FanDuel / most books)
- Confidence: LeanβModerate
- Why: Dylan Cease (2-1, 3.05 ERA, 13.15 K/9) is one of the sharpest arms in baseball right now and gets the single best strikeout matchup on the slate: the Angels rank dead last in MLB in strikeouts, averaging nearly 10 per game. Cease already dominated this same lineup on April 20, striking out 12 in just five innings. Against Reid Detmers (1-2), this is a genuine starter quality gap in Toronto's favor. Rogers Centre at home for the opener of a six-game homestand. One predictive model gives Toronto 61%, essentially pricing them at -157 β the book line of -162 represents a very slight overprice but lands squarely in the target band.
- Risks: The Blue Jays are 16-21 and have lost four straight, including a road sweep by Tampa. Cease's team-record backing (3-3 when he's the ML favorite this year) tempers the starter edge. Momentum is poor and this is a game Toronto could sleepwalk. -162 with a slumping roster is essentially break-even value.
2. Philadelphia Phillies ML β COL Rockies @ PHI Phillies
- Game: Colorado Rockies @ Philadelphia Phillies, 6:40 PM ET
- Bet Type: Moneyline
- Line: Phillies ML -220 (most books)
- Confidence: Lean β οΈ β value warning, see below
- Why: Chase Dollander is making just his second career MLB start on the road at Citizens Bank Park β a known hitter-friendly environment. JesΓΊs Luzardo (3-3, 5.09 ERA) has posted two strong recent performances and sits at 11.29 K/9. The Rockies (15-23) enter as the road team in this matchup. This looks like a clean spot on paper.
- Risks: β οΈ Real value concern: The Phillies have won only 15 of 28 games (53.6%) when installed as the moneyline favorite this season β far below the 68.75% implied probability baked into -220. That gap (-15 percentage points) is significant negative historical value, not noise. Additionally, Dollander's 3.38 ERA from limited sample and Luzardo's 5.09 ERA make this closer than the line suggests. The -220 is probably a public price on a home chalk, not a sharp one. Fade or pass unless you're tracking the Phillies' recent form carefully.
3. New York Yankees ML β NYY @ MIL Brewers (just outside band at -134)
- Game: New York Yankees @ Milwaukee Brewers, 7:40 PM ET
- Bet Type: Moneyline
- Line: Yankees ML -134 (note: -134 is below the -150 target floor β confirm if Yankees -1.5 run line is available near -155)
- Confidence: Moderate β best underlying team quality on the slate
- Why: The Yankees (26-12) have the best record in MLB. Max Fried (4-1, 2.39 ERA) has been dominant with a 0.76 ERA away from home and back-to-back shutout starts earlier this month. His team is 5-2 ATS and 71% as a moneyline favorite when he starts. Misiorowski (2-2, 2.84 ERA) is a good arm, but the Yankees lineup is elite and this is a road-game environment for Milwaukee's young staff. If -1.5 run line prices near -155, that would be firmly in-band and worth a look.
- Risks: Misiorowski has a genuinely strong ERA and can limit even good lineups. Fried's last start (5.1 IP, 3 ER vs Baltimore) showed he's not untouchable. The straight ML at -134 offers thin reward for the risk of backing a pitcher who's cooling slightly.
Verdict
Best play tonight: Blue Jays ML -162 at $1.91 (Lean β proceed with eyes open given team slump)
This is a thin night. The single clearly in-band pick is the Blue Jays, priced at almost exactly fair value by models. The Phillies at -220 are in-band numerically but represent negative historical value for the franchise. A skip is legitimate β the Blue Jays play is "lean" not "strong."
If you want action, Blue Jays ML -162 at $1.91 is the call. If you'd rather wait for a cleaner edge, skip and no harm done.

Methodology notes
- Phase A: No pending bets β both rows in tracker already Settled. Bankroll read directly from Bankroll sheet (B5 = $19.09, B8 = $1.91).
- Bet #1 data gap: Row 2 in Bets sheet (Yankees ML Win) has NULL in To Win (K) and P&L (P) β manually computed as +$1.21. Bankroll sheet B3 reflects the correct running total. Consider patching K2 = J2*(100/ABS(H2)) and P2 = K2 when next manually updating the tracker.
- Odds band scan: 15 MLB games surveyed + 2 NHL playoff games + 1 NBA game. In-band (-150 to -250) candidates: Phillies ML -220, Blue Jays ML -162. Yankees ML -134 is near-band. NHL and NBA game lines all priced lighter than -150 tonight.
- Player props: Dylan Cease K prop (7.5 Ks, -138 Over) is the strongest underlying prop on the slate but falls just outside the -150 floor. Noted as supporting evidence for the Blue Jays ML play rather than a standalone pick.
- Phillies value flag: Historical data (15/28 = 53.6% win rate as favorites) strongly suggests the -220 line is public chalk, not sharp value.
