Step 3 โ Schedule Verification
Friday MLB slate (15 games). Marquee evening matchups:
- HOU @ DET, 6:40 PM ET (Comerica) โ Arrighetti vs Montero
- NYY @ BOS, 7:10 PM ET (Fenway) โ Warren vs Tolle โญ
- TEX @ TOR, 7:07 PM ET
- AZ @ TB, 7:10 PM ET
- PHI @ NYM, 7:10 PM ET
- CHC @ MIL, 7:45 PM ET
- LAD @ SD, 9:45 PM ET
- ATL @ SF, 10:15 PM ET
- Plus various afternoon/evening games
Step 4 โ Per-Game Research
NYY @ BOS (7:10 PM, Fenway) โญ MARQUEE EDGE
- Confirmed starters: Will Warren (NYY, 7-2) vs Payton Tolle (BOS, 3-5)
- Records: NYY 48-32 vs BOS 33-46 โ massive 15-game gap
- Lines: NYY -110 (decimal 1.91), BOS -106 (decimal 1.94) โ essentially pickem
- Total: 8.5 (Over -108, Under -112)
- Read: The pickem ML on a 15-game-record-gap road favorite is unusual. Yankees should be priced -160 to -180 vs a sub-.500 Red Sox team. The line is heavily Boston-tilted because of Fenway crowd factor and the Yankees' lefty-weakness narrative (Tolle is LHP). But the underlying numbers don't support a coin flip.
HOU @ DET (6:40 PM, Comerica Park)
- Confirmed starters: Spencer Arrighetti (HOU, 7-3, 3.13 ERA) vs Keider Montero (DET, 3-5, 3.68 ERA)
- Combined ERA: 6.81 โ solid pitcher's duel
- Lines: DET -121 (decimal 1.83), HOU +100ish (~2.00)
- Total: 8.5 (Under likely ~1.91)
- Read: Both pitchers under 3.70 ERA at a moderate-pace park. Under has structural edge.
LAD @ SD (9:45 PM, Petco Park)
- Confirmed starters: Roki Sasaki (LAD, ~4.76 ERA) vs Randy Vasquez/Walker Buehler (SD, ~3.96 ERA)
- Lines: LAD -148 (decimal 1.68), SD +126 (decimal 2.26)
- Total: 7.5
- Read: LAD favored but Sasaki has been inconsistent; SD has the better starter ERA. Edge unclear.
Step 5 โ Edge Math & Pick Selection
Pick #1 โ STRONG: New York Yankees ML @ ~1.91 โญ
Bet: Yankees Moneyline (at Red Sox) Decimal odds: 1.91 (-110) Stake: $33.01 โ To win ~$30.04, returns $63.05
Edge math: - Implied prob at 1.91 = 52.4% - True estimate: ~60-65% based on: - NYY 60% W rate (48-32) vs BOS 42% W rate (33-46) โ 18-point gap - Warren 7-2 record this season - Yankees' AL East road performance has been strong - Tolle (BOS lefty) doesn't shut down righty-heavy NYY lineup - Edge: ~8-13% โ Strong tier - The Boston home pricing has created an inefficiency โ Yankees should be -150 to -170 priced, not pickem
Risk flags: - Fenway Park has the Monster (HRs play big) - Yankees lefty-vulnerability is real (lower batting avg vs LHP) - Warren has been streaky despite the W-L record - AL East divisional play tends to be tight
Pick #2 โ STRONG: HOU/DET UNDER 8.5 @ ~1.91
Bet: Astros/Tigers TOTAL UNDER 8.5 runs Decimal odds: ~1.91 (estimate) Stake: $33.01 โ To win ~$30.04, returns $63.05
Edge math: - Implied at 1.91 = 52.4% - True estimate: ~58-62% (combined 6.81 ERA, both pitchers go 5+ IP) - Edge: ~5-10% โ Strong tier
Risk flags: - Both pitchers can have multi-run innings (neither is elite) - HOU offense has been on a roll (4-game winning streak) - Comerica plays fair
Pick #3 โ MODERATE: LAD/SD Under 7.5 @ ~1.91
Bet: Dodgers/Padres Under 7.5 runs Decimal odds: ~1.91 (estimate) Stake: $33.01 โ returns ~$63
Edge math: - Both pitchers solid (Vasquez 3.96, Sasaki 4.76 inconsistent) - Petco Park is pitcher-friendly - True estimate: ~55-58% - Edge: ~3-6% โ Moderate tier
SGP opportunity check
For Pick #1 (Yankees ML-anchored): - Leg 1: Yankees ML @ 1.91 - Leg 2: Warren Over 4.5 K @ ~1.65 - Leg 3: Aaron Judge 1+ hit @ ~1.50
Naive: 1.91 ร 1.65 ร 1.50 = 4.73 Likely de-rate ~25% โ realized ~3.55
For Pick #2 (HOU/DET Under-anchored): - Leg 1: Under 8.5 @ ~1.91 - Leg 2: Arrighetti 4+ K @ ~1.50 - Leg 3: Montero 4+ K @ ~1.55
Naive: 1.91 ร 1.50 ร 1.55 = 4.44 Likely de-rate ~25% โ realized ~3.35
(No boost available, so straight ML/RL or simple SGPs)
Plays considered, not making the cut
- Boston ML @ 1.94: Implied 51.5%, true ~38-42% โ clear negative edge despite home advantage
- Tigers ML @ 1.83: True ~52-55%, edge near 0%. Yankees value better.
- Dodgers ML @ 1.68: Sasaki inconsistency makes this borderline
- TEX @ TOR, AZ @ TB, PHI @ NYM: Limited starter data; pass
- Coors-impacted games: Always too random
My recommendation
Pick #1 (Yankees ML at +/- pickem) is the clearest mispricing on the entire MLB Friday board. A team 15 games over .500 priced as a coin flip against a team 13 games under .500 is a structural inefficiency โ book is Fenway-home-tilted but the underlying numbers don't justify it.
~8-13% edge is well into Strong territory.
Pick #2 (HOU/DET Under) is the cleanest secondary play if you want diversification.
Stake $33.01 disciplined at 20%. A clean Yankees ML hit returns ~$63 (profit $30). Big enough to break the cold streak.
This is exactly the kind of structural-edge spot the workflow is built to find โ book mispricing based on factors (Fenway tilt) that don't override the underlying record gap.
Tell me what you book.
