Step 3 โ Schedule Verification
MLB Friday evening slate
- PHI @ DET, 6:40 PM ET โ Nola vs Flaherty (both bad ERAs โ no pitching edge)
- MIL @ PIT, 6:40 PM ET โ Sproat vs Ashcraft โญ (All-Star pitching edge for Pirates)
- NYY @ WSH, 6:45 PM ET โ Weathers vs Palmquist (opener/bullpen game)
- KC @ BAL, 7:05 PM ET
- AZ @ LAD, later
- Plus additional evening games
World Cup Quarterfinal #2
- ESP vs BEL, 3:00 PM ET (SoFi Stadium) โ Kicks off in the ping window
- Spain -170 (decimal 1.59), Belgium +500, Draw +290
- Spain 5 games, 5 clean sheets, ZERO goals conceded โ historic defense
- Belgium missing Onana (knee injury from USA game)
Step 4 โ Per-Game Research
ESP vs BEL (3:00 PM, SoFi Stadium) โญ WC QF
Lines triangulated: - FanDuel: Spain -170 (1.59), Belgium +500 (6.00), Draw +290 (3.90) - Kalshi: (likely ~65% Spain based on tournament form and Belgium injuries) - Multiple analysts favor Spain, low-scoring game - Spain to advance: implied 77.27%
Read: - Spain has not conceded a single goal through 5 matches - Belgium crushed USA 4-1 to advance but lost midfield anchor Onana - Multiple analysts: "tournament's stingiest defense vs stacked attack" - Spain ML at 1.59 implied 62.9%, true ~65-70% โ +3-7% edge Moderate-Strong
Timing risk: 3pm kickoff. If bookable at ping time (3-3:30 PM ET), this is the marquee play.
MIL @ PIT (6:40 PM, PNC Park) โ Elite Pitching Mismatch
Starters: - Braxton Ashcraft (PIT, 9-3, 3.24 ERA, 122 K in 108.1 IP, All-Star) โ elite arm - Brandon Sproat (MIL, 3-4, 5.13 ERA)
Records: - Brewers 56-33 (best team in NL, likely MLB best) - Pirates 40-52 - Pirates -126 (decimal 1.79) at home - Milwaukee +106 (~1.94) - Total: 8.0
Read: Interesting inverse-template. Ashcraft = elite pitching edge (1.89 ERA gap!). But Brewers = better team by 16 games. Pirates home + pitching vs Brewers better team + hot offense. Model splits โ one predicts Brewers 5-3, another Pirates 4-3.
- Pirates ML at 1.79 implied 55.9%, true ~55-60% โ +0-4% edge, marginal-moderate
- Ashcraft 6+ K prop at ~1.55: 10.1 K/9 โ hits 6+ K in most starts. True ~70-75% vs implied 64.5% โ +6-10% edge Strong
The K prop is arguably the cleaner edge here than the ML.
PHI @ DET (6:40 PM, Comerica Park) โ Skip
Starters: Nola (PHI, 5.87 ERA) vs Flaherty (DET, 4.60 ERA) โ both bad - No pitching edge - Total 8.5 with Over pricing - No clean structural play
NYY @ WSH (6:45 PM) โ Skip
Starters: Weathers (NYY, 3-7) vs Palmquist (WSH, opener/bullpen game) - Yankees -162 (1.62) โ this is the same Weathers who cost us Bet #39 - Yankees ML implied 61.7% vs true ~55-60% โ negative edge -2 to -6% - Bullpen game on Nats side adds variance - Skip โ no edge, plus we've been burned on Yankees
Step 5 โ Edge Math & Pick Selection (TWO-LENS, 3 OPTIONS EACH)
LENS 1 โ MAX-EV PLAYS
EV Option A โ STRONG: Spain ML @ ~1.59 โญ (if bookable)
Stake: $46.43 โ returns $73.82, profit $27.39
Edge math: - Implied at 1.59 = 62.9% - True estimate: ~65-70% (historic defense, Belgium hurt, tournament form) - Edge: +3-7% โ Moderate-Strong - EV: 0.675 ร $27.39 โ 0.325 ร $46.43 = +$3.39
โ Book by 3:00 PM ET. If already past, jump to Option B or C.
EV Option B โ MODERATE: Ashcraft Over 6.5 K prop @ ~1.55
Stake: $46.43 โ returns $71.97, profit $25.54
Edge math: - Implied at 1.55 = 64.5% - Ashcraft averaging 10.1 K/9 with 122 K in 108.1 IP - Typical start of 6+ IP โ 6-7 K expected - True estimate: ~70-75% - Edge: +6-10% โ Strong - EV: 0.725 ร $25.54 โ 0.275 ร $46.43 = +$5.75 โญ
Best pure-play prop bet edge on the board tonight. Removes ML variance entirely โ you just need Ashcraft to pitch a normal game.
EV Option C โ SPECULATIVE: Ashcraft-anchored SGP w/boost
Construction: - Leg 1: Pirates ML @ 1.79 - Leg 2: Ashcraft 6+ K @ 1.55 - Leg 3: Under 8.0 runs @ ~1.91
Naive: 1.79 ร 1.55 ร 1.91 = 5.30 De-rate ~25%: ~3.97 With 30% boost if available: ~4.87 With 50% boost if available: ~5.46
True: 0.575 ร 0.725 ร 0.58 = ~24% At 4.87 boosted implied 20.5% โ Edge +3.7% EV at 4.87 boosted: 0.24 ร $179.86 โ 0.76 ร $46.43 = +$7.87 โญโญ
Note: Check bet365 boost tonight. If 30-50% boost available on this construction, best EV on the board.
LENS 2 โ MAX-HIT-RATE PLAYS
HR Option A โ HIGH HIT + strong edge: Ashcraft Over 6.5 K @ 1.55 โญ
Same as EV Option B. 72% hit + real edge = convergence pick. - Hit rate: ~72%, EV: +$5.75
This is the highest hit-rate positive-EV play on the board today.
HR Option B โ DUAL LENS: Spain ML @ 1.59
Same as EV Option A. 67% hit + real edge. - Hit rate: ~67%, EV: +$3.39
HR Option C โ HIGHEST HIT (borderline): Spain Double Chance @ ~1.13
Stake: $46.43 โ returns $52.47, profit $6.04
Edge math: - Implied at 1.13 = 88.5% - True estimate: ~88-92% (Spain hasn't conceded all tournament, Draw 22%) - Edge: 0 to +3% โ fair-to-marginal - Hit rate: ~90% - EV: 0.90 ร $6.04 โ 0.10 ร $46.43 = +$0.79
Barely positive EV. Only take if you want maximum safety and don't mind small profit.
Plays considered, not making the cut
- Yankees ML @ 1.62: Negative edge (Weathers bad, Nats decent vs LHP). Plus we've been burned. Clear pass.
- Phillies/Tigers Over 8.5: Both starters bad โ could hit, but no clear structural edge. Skip.
- Belgium ML @ 6.00: Lottery. Skip.
- Brewers ML @ 1.94: Wrong side of pitching matchup, edge -1 to +1%. Marginal, skip.
- Any parlay: Same math as always โ chalky legs reduce hit rate below individual legs.
My recommendation
Two-lens matrix
| # | Option | Lens | Decimal | Hit Rate | EV | Profit |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| A | Spain ML (WC) โ timing | Max-EV | 1.59 | 67% | +$3.39 | $27.39 |
| B | Ashcraft 6+ K | Max-EV / Dual โญ | 1.55 | 72% | +$5.75 | $25.54 |
| C | Ashcraft SGP w/boost | Max-EV speculative | ~4.87 | 24% | +$7.87 โญโญ | $180 |
| D | Ashcraft 6+ K (dual) | Max-Hit-Rate | 1.55 | 72% | +$5.75 | $25.54 |
| E | Spain ML (dual) | Max-Hit-Rate | 1.59 | 67% | +$3.39 | $27.39 |
| F | Spain DC | Max-Hit-Rate | 1.13 | 90% | +$0.79 | $6.04 |
The honest call
Thinner MLB slate today โ the winning template (home fav + team edge + pitching edge aligned) doesn't cleanly appear. Best MLB edge is a pure pitcher K prop, not our usual ML play.
Convergence pick: Ashcraft Over 6.5 K @ 1.55 (Option B/D). This is unusual for us โ first pure prop bet as a main play in this run โ but the math is compelling: 72% hit rate + 8% edge. Ashcraft is an All-Star K arm with 10+ K/9 against a Brewers lineup that whiffs. Best combination of hit rate and edge on the board.
Speculative bigger swing: Ashcraft SGP with boost (Option C). If bet365 has 30-50% boost, EV climbs to +$7.87 with $180 payout potential. Same manufactured-boost template that just won us +$36 and +$57.
WC option: Spain ML @ 1.59 (Option A). Only if bookable before 3pm ET. Historic defense (0 goals allowed all tournament) vs weakened Belgium (Onana out).
Do NOT take: Yankees ML (negative edge, twice-burned), Phillies/Tigers game (no clean edge), Belgium (lottery), Brewers ML (wrong pitching side).
Also honest option: take a rest day. Today's edges are real but not the "obvious template match" we've been finding. If the boost isn't available, straight Ashcraft K prop is a small stake win. If you want to preserve bankroll for a cleaner spot tomorrow, that's disciplined too.
My lean: Ashcraft 6+ K prop (Option B). Cleanest single edge. If boost is on the Ashcraft SGP, upgrade to Option C.
Tomorrow (Saturday): Norway vs England 5pm and Argentina vs Switzerland 9pm WC QFs โ cleaner slate expected.
Tell me what you book.
