Est. Odds converted from American to decimal per house rule. Moneylines/spreads sourced primarily from FanDuel Research (numberFire model probabilities where cited) and cross-referenced against MLB.com's official schedule and probable-pitcher confirmations from independent search. Where a spread/total number wasn't available with enough confidence to size an edge, it's marked No play rather than guessed. Spread "cover probability" estimates (Twins +1.5, Cardinals +1.5, Padres +1.5, Giants +1.5, Angels +1.5) are my own extrapolation from the moneyline model splits โ€” MLB games are frequently decided by 1 run, so a competitive matchup's underdog getting +1.5 runs typically covers well above its outright win probability. These are estimates, not a dedicated spread model, so treat the "โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…" EV stars on them with a bit more humility than the moneyline plays that come straight from numberFire's stated win probabilities.

No WNBA/other-league coverage today โ€” MLB slate alone produced a full, clean set of positive-EV plays across bet types.

Section 4: Reasoning

1. Giants ML (+134, 2.34 decimal). This is the widest model-vs-market gap on the entire slate. numberFire has San Francisco winning 53.31% of the time as true underdogs, while the market has Houston as a -158 favorite (implied ~61.2% win probability) โ€” a double-digit-point disagreement that's rare to see this clean. The probable-pitcher assignment matters here: Hayden Wesneski takes the ball for Houston at 2-0 with a 3.86 ERA, while Blade Tidwell gets the start for San Francisco with a sharper 3.18 ERA in a small sample. Oracle Park is also a pitcher-friendly venue that tends to suppress the kind of offense that would bail out a shakier start. Whenever the market and model disagree this much, I flag it as a genuine edge rather than a data error, but I'd size this knowing it's a real divergence โ€” not a lock. Giants +1.5 (spread) is the same read on the same game at a shorter but very high-probability price if you'd rather de-risk the same thesis.

2. Twins +1.5 (-175, 1.57 decimal). Minnesota is actually the model's pick to win outright (54.77% per numberFire) despite Baltimore sitting as the -112 market favorite โ€” that's a near-even game where the "wrong" side is favored on the moneyline. In a genuine coin-flip game like this, buying the plus-1.5 runs on the side the model actually likes is usually the higher-probability way to play it: MLB games are decided by exactly one run close to 28% of the time, so Minnesota covering +1.5 doesn't require them to win โ€” just not lose by 2+. Dean Kremer starts for Baltimore, Trevor Rogers for Minnesota; nothing in the pitching matchup screams a Baltimore blowout, which supports staying away from laying the extra run risk. Twins ML straight-up (2.02 decimal) is also on the board today if you want the higher-EV, lower-hit-rate version of the same read.

3. Andrew Painter Over 3.5 Ks (+124, 2.24 decimal). Painter is a legitimate bat-missing arm โ€” 13.2% swinging-strike rate over his last five outings โ€” but his overall 19.4% K rate and ugly 6.64 xFIP in that stretch have kept the market from pricing him aggressively, hence the plus-money number on a modest 3.5-strikeout line. He's cleared this mark in three of his last five starts. St. Louis owns the fifth-lowest team strikeout rate in MLB (19.6%), which is the one real risk factor here โ€” but Philadelphia has let him run up to 93 pitches as recently as June, so the leash is long enough for him to get through enough hitters to clear the number if he's landing his stuff. This is a swing-and-miss-quality play at a price that isn't fully accounting for how he's actually pitching underneath the ERA.

4. Brewers/Padres Total Under 7.5 (-122, 1.82 decimal). Two legitimately sharp arms in a pitcher's park. Logan Henderson carries a 2.70 ERA with a 33.1% strikeout rate and just a .196 opponents' average โ€” elite marks for a starter with only 50 innings under his belt. Casey Mize has a rough Padres debut on his ledger (3.1 IP, 8 ER vs. Arizona) but a 2.78 FIP over his seven starts before that blowup, and Petco Park is one of the more pitcher-friendly parks in the league. Both bullpens rank in the majors' top three in reliever xFIP over the last 30 days (Milwaukee 3rd at 3.47, San Diego 4th at 3.53), which matters as much as the starters for a full-game total. Padres +1.5 is the alternate way to play this game if the near-even moneyline (Padres 50.50% model vs. Brewers -112 market) appeals more than the total.

5. Rays ML (-154, 1.65 decimal). The cleanest hit-rate play on the board โ€” numberFire has Tampa Bay winning 63.47% of the time against Athletics, notably higher than the market's implied ~60.6% at these odds. Freddy Peralta (5-9, 5.37 ERA) isn't dazzling on the surface for Tampa Bay, but Jacob Lopez (5-4, 5.64 ERA) for a last-place Athletics club that's 30+ games under .500 gives the Rays a real quality-gap edge even with two mediocre-looking ERAs on paper. This slots in as the highest floor play of the five โ€” smaller dollar edge than the others, but the best combination of price and win probability for anyone wanting to protect the streak.

Passes worth flagging: Diamondbacks ML (-190) actually grades out negative โ€” the model has Arizona winning 62.15% of the time, but the market's -190 price implies ~65.5%, meaning the market is more confident than the numbers support despite Arizona being a legitimately good team. Rangers ML and Braves ML both check out similarly overpriced relative to their model win probabilities. Dodgers ML (-330) is automatically out regardless of edge โ€” decimal odds of 1.30 sit well below the 1.50 odds-band floor. Red Sox ML (Gray, 2.78 ERA, 14-2 vs. Taillon, 5.96 ERA, newly acquired and banged up) looks like a monster pitching mismatch on paper, but the -146 price already has it priced almost exactly to the model's 59.62% win probability โ€” essentially fair value with a $0.19 theoretical edge, not worth a stake on its own merits today.
