Section 3: My Recommendations

# Option Lens Est. Odds Hit Rate EV
1 ATL @ MIN β€” Over 9.5 runs Max-EV 2.17 52.0% +$3.65
2 DET @ PIT β€” Pirates +1.5 Max-Hit-Rate 1.67 64.1% +$2.00
3 CWS @ CHC β€” Cubs -1.5 Balanced 2.26 ~50% +$3.69
4 ATH @ KC β€” Over 9.5 runs Balanced 2.17 50.3% +$2.60
5 ATL @ MIN β€” Michael Harris II 2+ Total Bases Balanced 1.77 60.0% +$1.76

Section 4: Reasoning

1. ATL @ MIN β€” Over 9.5 runs (Max-EV, 2.17, 52.0% hit, +$3.65 EV) This is the strongest edge on the slate. Twins starter Bailey Ober has been getting hammered by left-handed hitters β€” a 54.8% fly-ball rate and 1.88 HR/9 allowed to lefties, with his strikeout rate against them collapsing to 12.0%. Atlanta's lineup leans lefty-heavy at the top, and Braves starter MartΓn PΓ©rez is a back-end arm with modest strikeout stuff, giving Minnesota's offense its own path to runs. Both offenses have a favorable matchup against the opposing starter, which is the textbook setup for an Over. Risk: bullpen volatility late β€” neither pen is a lockdown unit, which cuts both ways for the total.

2. DET @ PIT β€” Pirates +1.5 (Max-Hit-Rate, 1.67, 64.1% hit, +$2.00 EV) Highest hit-rate positive-EV play available today. Pittsburgh gets 1.5 runs of insurance at home, and the model likes them not just to cover but to have a real shot at the outright win (Pirates ML also shows a 3.7% edge at 51.3%). Home underdogs getting a run and a half of cushion is a durable market inefficiency, and Detroit is on the road in a division series with travel/rest variables in play. This is the safest leg of the five β€” it anchors the card with a near two-thirds hit rate.

3. CWS @ CHC β€” Cubs -1.5 (Balanced, 2.26, ~50% hit, +$3.69 EV) Shota Imanaga is a tough lefty matchup for a White Sox lineup that already carries the seventh-highest strikeout rate in baseball over the past 30 days β€” including two of their best bats (Colson Montgomery, Munetaka Murakami) both running K rates north of 33%. On the other side, Chicago's offense (third in wOBA over the last 30 days) gets a much friendlier look at Luis Castillo, who's now with the White Sox after his deadline trade and has a modest 4.18 SIERA. Note: this pick is sourced from expert/editorial analysis rather than a quantified model edge, so the hit-rate and EV figures here are estimates, not hard probabilities β€” treat with slightly more caution than the model-driven plays. Risk: run line requires a multi-run margin, not just a win.

4. ATH @ KC β€” Over 9.5 runs (Balanced, 2.17, 50.3% hit, +$2.60 EV) Two offense-forward lineups against depth-chart starters (Mason Barnett for Oakland, Michael Wacha for Kansas City) β€” neither pitcher profiles as a shutdown arm at this point in the season, and the model gives this a 4.2% edge on a coin-flip-plus probability. This is a volume play more than a conviction play β€” it rounds out the portfolio with a different game and a plus-money price.

5. ATL @ MIN β€” Michael Harris II 2+ Total Bases (Balanced, 1.77, ~60% hit, +$1.76 EV) Same Ober-vs-lefties matchup driving the Over pick above, but expressed as a player prop for diversification. Harris has a .344 wOBA this year and already matched his career high with 20 home runs, with his hard-hit rate nearly double against pitchers he's cross-matched well with. Against a starter allowing a 54.8% fly-ball rate to lefties, one well-struck ball (double or homer) clears this line. Risk: single-player variance is real β€” this is a lower-sample outcome than a team total, but the matchup-specific signal is strong enough to include as the portfolio's prop diversifier.

Portfolio note: Two legs touch the Braves–Twins game (Over 9.5, Harris prop) β€” both driven by the same Ober-vs-lefties read, so there's some correlation risk baked in. If you want a cleaner spread, swap the Harris prop for the Pirates ML (2.10, 51.3%) as a second DET @ PIT leg instead.

Coors Field note: LAD @ COL shows real model edges (Over 10.5 at 5.3%, Tucker RBI prop) but Coors Field is a standing house rule to avoid/reduce due to variance β€” neither made the Top 5 for that reason.
